Ryan is an experienced tax professional with more than 15 years’ experience in providing tax services to a wide range of clients from the smallest owner-managed businesses to some of the largest public and private entities in Canada. Ryan has considerable experience working directly with companies in various industries for tax planning, tax compliance, and M&A matters. Ryan’s tax advice goes beyond simple compliance; he considers and understands the long-term impact of tax decisions on both current owners and stakeholders, as well as through the lens of succession, acquisitions, and divestiture planning. Ryan is the NPO and Charity lead for the Winnipeg office and works closely with members of KPMG’s National Public Sector tax practice on important initiatives and planning for charities of all sizes.
Ryan is a frequent speaker and has presently recently at the Canadian Tax Foundation, Canadian Association of Gift Planners, University of Manitoba, FEI Canada, and numerous other organizations. Ryan is past Chair of the CPA Manitoba Foundation, current Chair of the CPA Manitoba Tax Committee, a present member of the Premier’s Tax Competitiveness Working Group, and is also the Vice Chair of Prairie Theatre Exchange.
Presenter: Rick Braun Janzen, Director of Gift Planning of Abundance Canada
Rick is the Director of Gift Planning at Abundance Canada. He provides leadership for Abundance Canada’s gift planning consultants, assisting them in developing and implementing generosity plans and engagement strategies for donors and prospects. Prior to Abundance Canada, Rick worked for various for-profit companies and social profit agencies.
Rick holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree, the Certified Financial Planner and MFA-P designations and is a member of CAGP. He also chairs the Board of Directors for a seniors housing society in Winnipeg.
